MENTORSHIP BREAKDOWN
COURSE BREAKDOWN
MONTH 1
In this first month, we lay a solid foundation for your journey into 3D game art. You’ll learn the fundamentals of art and dive deep into the nuances of cloth, crucial for realistic game character design. Through practical sculpting exercises, you’ll refine your techniques and develop a keen eye for detail. By the month’s end, you’ll have gained a solid foundation on the fundamentals, including multiple cloth studies in ZBrush to deepen your understanding and achieve high-skill proficiency.
MONTH 2
In our second month, we dive deeper into 3D game art, focusing on understanding fit, how cloth interacts with characters. You’ll learn about Fit in Marvelous Designer (MD) and practice manipulating cloth to achieve desired effects. By month’s end, you’ll have a strong grasp of fit concepts and practical experience with MD via the weekly exercises, making you ready to create cloth simulations for your game characters. Through multiple specific MD practices, we aim to foster expertise in cloth creation.
MONTH 3
In the third month, you’ll dive into mastering garment creation using Marvelous Designer and ZBrush. We’ll focus on refining techniques for a polished finish. You’ll also explore designing accessories to enhance your characters. Plus, we’ll kickstart preparations for creating full characters by gathering references and starting the blockout phase, laying the groundwork for comprehensive character development.
MONTH 4
In month four, we work with a strong emphasis on high-poly creation. You’ll delve into intricate detail crafting using advanced techniques in Marvelous Designer (MD) and ZBrush. We’ll also prioritize achieving consistency in your work. Furthermore, we’ll introduce a specialized module focusing on AI in art, exploring its role as a creative enhancement tool, emphasizing its ethical and thoughtful application rather than relying on it as a shortcut.
MONTH 5
Entering a critical stage of game art creation, month five focuses on learning to create efficient low-poly models suitable for real-time rendering. You’ll master the art of unwrapping (UV) to efficiently texture your models and explore the process of baking textures for optimal performance in-game engines. By the end of this month, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of these crucial techniques.
MONTH 6
In our final month, we’ll cover texture creation, material setup for characters, Unreal Engine integration, and industry software simulation. You’ll learn to craft detailed textures, set up materials for characters in Unreal Engine, and learn presentation. Plus, we’ll give an understanding of industry-standard tools like Slack and Shotgun and also aid with how interviews are conducted in the industry. By the end, you’ll be fully equipped for success in professional game artistry.
